CM calls for the joint resolution and commitment to provide green-clean-environment to our future generation

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel attended “Building a Climate- Resilient Gujarat” a Climate change outreach program organized by Climate Change Department at Science City in Ahmedabad. Various schemes and aid were announced as well MoUs executed in the presence of Education Minister Mr. Jitubhai Vaghani, Minister for Forest and Climate Change Mr. Kiritsinh Rana, Minister of State Mr. JagdishVishwa karma and Mr. Kuberbhai Dindor as well other dignitaries and experts from the country and abroad. Shri Patel said that Gujarat, a role model of development, has set a new definition of development with environmental protection-preparedness against the Challenges of Climate Change.

CM said that under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Gujarat for the first time in Asia started a separate department for Climate Change in 2009. The state government has gradually increased the budget of the Climate Change Department in the last 12 years. GoG has provided Rs. 910 crore in the budget this year.

CM announces grant of Rs. 1 crore 50 lakhs  for establishment of Centre of Excellence

CM announced a grant of Rs. 1 crore 50 lakh by the Climate Change Department for setting up a Centre of Excellence at Gujarat University in the state. CM virtually inaugurated solar rooftop system on Science Museum, Medical College and Polytechnic buildings. He flagged off electric vehicles provided under subsidy scheme and distributed assistance for battery operated two wheelers. Assistance for setting up of biogas plant at Gaushala-Panjrapol was distributed as well as incentive amount for collection of plastic waste by Sakhi Mandal was also distributed by the Chief Minister.

On the occasion assistance was distributed for battery operated two wheelers to 12 beneficiaries. Under this scheme total assistance of Rs. 21.06 crore was provided to 25,328 students in Std. 9th to 12th and college in the last 5 years. Assistance of Rs. 10,73,082 was distributed to each shriValinathAkhada Gaushala Charitable Trust located of tarabh and Nand Gaushala located of Kadi. Morbi-based Takshashila Self Help Group and women’s organization in Singhoieach were given incentive assistance of Rs. 2.5 lakh for plastic waste collection. Assistance of Rs 22.91 crore has been provided so far in the entire state.

CM inaugurats 100 KW Solar System at Regional Science Museum, Patan

CM also inaugurated 100 KW Solar System at Regional Science Museum, Patan, 100 KW at GMERS Medical College, Himmatnagar and 180 KW Solar System at Shri Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute Campus, Bhavnagar. Built at a cost of Rs. 1.26 crore, this solar system will save 5 lakh 70 thousand units annually. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set five benchmarks for environment conservation during the COP 26. One of its key target is to achieve Net Zero by 2070. Gujarat is ready to take the lead in achieving this target, the Chief Minister said. CM added that Gujarat has also prepared a new State Action Plan keeping in view the target till 2030 in accordance with these five goals.

The Determination of the state government to turn the challenges of climate change into opportunities: CM 

CM  said that it is the determination of the state government to turn the challenges of climate change into opportunities. New policies have been formulated which focus on all the aspects of clean, pure and green-clean environment, and water conservation. CM called for the joint resolution and commitment to provide green-clean-environment to our future generation and said that building Gujarat equipped with effective solutions for challenges of climate change is our joint resolve and commitment. On this occasion MoUs were also executed by the Climate Change Department with national as well as international organizations which include UNICEF, EU, ICLEI, IIM-Ahmedabad, IIT-Gandhinagar, MS University, Ahmedabad University, PDPU, Science City, Technical Education, Primary Education, Higher Education, NavsariKrishi University, Suzlon Gujarat Wind Park Limited.

Education Minister Shri JitubhaiVaghani said that State Government is moving ahead under the guidance of the then Chief Minster and present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in regards with climate change. Climate change is a global challenge and the world is facing it. Climate change is responsible for the changing seasons and the consequent natural disasters. At the same time, we are facing many kinds of diseases.

Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Shri Kiritsinh Rana said that the then Chief Minister and present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi started the Climate Change Department in 2009 after brainstorming on how to prevent global warming and carry out the vision as a mission. Youth and Citizens joined through various schemes. To prevent the environment from being polluted, the youth was awakened from school days as a result more than 6000 start-ups have been activated today giving a fillip to the start-up innovation in Gujarat. 

Youth is using new technology to embody new ideas

Youth is using new technology to embody new ideas. They are contributing to climate change by developing innovative resources. He said that Gujarat has been leading the world in this awareness campaign. With the cooperation of all, we can save the world from the adverse effects of global warming.

The concern for global warming and climate change in the entire Asia and the works for its change were initiated by the then Chief Minister and the present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. We all have to move forward to accelerate the idea of the Prime Minister. If everyone conserves and protects the environment around them and tries to save it, then we would be able to provide a safe environment to future generations: : Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma (Minister of State for Climate Change)

Principal Secretary to Department of Education Shri S. J. Haider said that the then Chief Minister and the present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had decided to set up a Climate Change Department in Gujarat for the first time in the country. Today, many concrete steps are being taken by the Climate Change Department in Gujarat.

Six different documentaries on the subject with the aim of spreading awareness about climate change

The Chief Minister released six different documentaries on the subject with the aim of spreading awareness about climate change under the Climate Change Program. Simultaneously he launched a webinar for children with the aim of imparting scientific understanding of climate change to children. He also releases Gujarati Parampara (Gujarati Tradition) book, and various study reports touching on climate change as well as Vidyasurbhi, a guide for students of higher and technical education by the Department of Education. Vice Chancellors of Gujarat University, MS University, GTU, Director of IIM Ahmedabad as well as researchers working in the field of Climate Change from state and abroad joined on the occasion.
