Drone around Naval Installations neutralised by Indian Navy

“An area of 3km from the perimeter of Naval Installations in Gujarat is designated as the ”No Fly Zone”. All individuals/civil agencies are prohibited from flying any aerial drones within these zones for any reason.” read an official press release.

Drone banThe utilization of drones is governed by guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs as amended from time to time. Approval from the Director General Civil Aviation (DCGA) is to be obtained through the Digi Sky website (www.dcga.nic.in), and a copy of the approval letter is to be submitted to Headquarters Gujarat Daman and Diu Naval Area/ the concerned Naval Station at least a week before the scheduled flying operation.

Indian Navy can destroy Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

The Indian Navy reserves the right to confiscate or destroy any aerial drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) found flying within these areas without prior approval. Operators found violating these guidelines will be liable for prosecution under the relevant provisions of law.

The decision has been taken keeping in eye the recent drone attack on Indian Air Force Base in Jammu. A high alert was then sounded in the Jammu area, particularly in Army stations. A similar order was passed two days back by the Naval Installations in Panji.
