PIB: On 5th October 2021, a one day workshop on “Maritime Search and Rescue” was conducted by Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 1, Porbandar. The motive of this workshop was to focus on coordination amongst stakeholders for effective Search and Rescue (SAR) operations at sea. ICG is the National Maritime SAR conducting authority with DGICG chairing National Maritime SAR board.
The conference was attended by representatives from Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Police Gujarat and UT Police of Diu, Customs, ISRO, Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) Khambat, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Kutch and Airport Authority of India. The gathering revalidated the existing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on SAR.
