Defence: A comprehensive review of operational, training and administrative readiness of Konark Corps was carried out on today. Lieutenant General PS Minhas, General Officer Commanding, of the Corps headed the review. The General Officer was briefed on various operational initiatives being undertaken to meet the challenges and exploit the opportunities in a technology enabled network centric battlefield environment. The General Officer was also briefed by all Formation Commanders of Corps.

Lieutenant General PS Minhas, laid emphasis on maintaining a high state of operational readiness, synergy and cooperation amongst all Services. He expressed satisfaction on the readiness of the Formations and exhorted all ranks to continue training hard and keep up the highest standards of readiness.
When was Konark Corps raised?
The ‘Konark Corps’ was raised on 26 February 1987 under Lieutenant General A K Chatterjee, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal during Operation Trident. The Corps adopted “Konark” as its formation insignia after Konark Sun Temple of Puri, as a symbolic representation of the radiation of sun in eight cardinal directions. Though the Corps was raised in 1987, it had earned laurels and accolades in battles of 1965 and 1971. It safeguards the largest extent of Nation’s International Border
